The Johnsons - Their Reality, Your Future?

On September 1st the Johnsons are moving to Staffordshire. It’s not a happy picture. The Johnsons poster

The impacts of climate change have hit: sea levels have risen, petrol is strictly rationed and the shops are short of food. Is their reality your future?

Set sometime in the future, the Johnsons is an alternative reality game running on the OC3 website  from September 1st until Christmas.

The game centres around a family of four characters, Howard, Sarah, Rupert and Lucinda who each post a weekly blog on the site.

Game players read the blog and search the website to find clues and guess the year the story is set in. The winner will receive an eco digital radio.

Staffordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Environment, Mike Maryon, said the game offered people a new way to explore the issues surrounding climate change.

“The Johnsons presents a picture of what life could be like in the future if we don’t seriously address the issues of climate change. By joining in with the game, people can have fun while learning about the impact of carbon emissions and, more importantly, what they can do to cut their carbon footprint today.

"This is a great opportunity for people who are jaded with hearing about climate change, who aren’t interested or have struggled to understand the issues to get engaged. Join in and get your friends, family and colleagues playing too: you could be the one who wins.” he added.

Web surfers can find out more about the Johnsons on YouTube by searching for ‘OC3 Climate Change’ and on Facebook by searching for the Lucinda Johnson, Rupert Johnson and Sarah Johnson fan pages. Lucinda also has a Bebo profile.
