Welcome to the Johnsons
The Johnsons are a fictional family based in Staffordshire’s future. The aim of the game was to entertain as well as to educate players about the potential impacts of climate change.
There are four members of the Johnson family. Over four months in 2009 they used this blog to tell their story about life in the future.
The stories were far fetched; Staffordshire’s script for our own disaster movie. To ensure we kept to the true facts about climate change, each character provided links to reliable information about different aspects of their story.
Your Challenge
Through a series of blog entries, the Johnsons gave clues about what year they are based in. Players were invited to guess the year.
The clues were either Climate Change Facts or Climate Change Mythmakers given at the end of each blog entry.
Climate Change Facts
A Climate Change Fact relates to something in our past or present that can be directly related to climate change. It is a piece of history, scientific investigation or fact that is acknowledged to be true in the current day. More information about the Climate Change Facts is given after the blog entries.
Climate Change Mythmakers
A Climate Change Mythmaker is something the Johnsons make reference to that helps them tell their story and illustrates the potential impacts of climate change. The mythmakers are not predictions of what will happen, they simply are used to help set the Johnsons in a context different to the present day. They were there to be used as clues to guess the year to which the Johnsons are based in.
The Johnsons competition has now closed and the winner will be announced shortly.
